SonicWALL, a network infrastructure company, has released a new version of SonicOS, which includes deep packet inspection for SSL traffic.
The SonicOS 5.6 is an upgrade to the company’s operating system for the new SonicWALL TZ, NSA and E-Class NSA firewalls. The new version brings protection from re-assembly free deep packet inspection (RFDPI) engine to SSL encrypted traffic.
According to SonicWALL, the DPI-SSL feature can inspect inside all SSL sessions across all ports, independently of the protocol, for scanning, monitoring and protecting both encrypted and decrypted data. The technology can be deployed both for outbound connections from the clients or to inbound connections to the servers.
In addition, the server side DPI-SSL service options include gateway anti-virus, gateway anti-spyware, intrusion prevention and application control.
SonicWALL is also introducing USB 3G and modem failover for its SonicOS 5.6 to support the NSA and E-Class NSA series, which adds an additional failover option for networks. The Terminal Services Agent allows transparent authentication and identification of users in such environments and the dynamic routing over VPN preserved traffic continuity on VPN networks when tunnels are temporarily disabled or while the VPN deployment is undergoing changes.

Companies are put back in control of the data that leaves their network while controlling what web sites users access.
