SolarWinds, a provider of IT management software, has released its latest application management offering, SolarWinds Synthetic End User Monitor.

The new product helps systems administrators and application support professionals monitor multi-step Web-based transactions in mission-critical applications, said the company.

Synthetic End User Monitor delivers affordable cloud-based and internal Web application monitoring with an easy-to-use recorder. This allows users to respond to transaction problems before customers see them.

The tool also monitors Web applications through synthetic user tests, reporting on duration and success. Alerts are sent if there are issues with completing transactions, providing expected results, or timing.

The cost is not based on frequency like many other synthetic monitoring products, so users can run transactions as often as they like, minimising downtime.

SolarWinds product marketing and product management VP Sanjay Castelino said Synthetic End User Monitor provides reliable and affordable Web application monitoring, with the best, most easy-to-use recorder on the market, at a fraction of the price.

"It also provides the option to monitor mission-critical internal applications, an area that is ignored by most of our competitors," Castelino said.

SolarWinds has also announced Web Transaction Watcher, a free tool that allows the recording of one Web transaction, with the option to replay every 30 minutes to let users know if there is a problem.

Web Transaction Watcher recordings will not need to be re-recorded if users decide they need to upgrade to Synthetic End User Monitor, said the company.
