Sogeti, a provider of software testing and infrastructure services, has launched a new software testing as a service model. This new model provides professional support for software testing requirements on a project basis.

Sogeti has said that its software testing as a service (STaaS) enables organizations to outsource the testing of projects or parts of projects. With the new model start-up times and project risk are expected to reduce.

According to Sogeti, STaaS is ideal for: companies that already outsource their software testing but have additional testing projects which demand a quick turnaround; companies with in-house testing teams that have resource constraints; organizations that are reluctant to outsource their testing operations wholesale but wish to benefit from professional testing expertise; and businesses that need frequent maintenance on existing applications or have several smaller projects which cannot financially justify a permanent test team.

Richard Terry, deputy CEO of Sogeti UK, said: Organizations of all sizes recognize the need to thoroughly test applications before they release them to their customers and business partners. But many are worried about the start-up costs involved in testing, especially in the current climate. We have taken the software as a service business model of providing rapid access to software using minimal infrastructure, and we have applied it to testing. The result is that our clients benefit from dramatic cost savings and are able to react to market conditions more swiftly or test functionality added at the last minute.
