Software AG, a provider of business infrastructure software, has launched webMethods 8.0, a new platform to facilitate the Business-IT collaboration required for visibility into services, processes and overall company performance.

The webMethods 8.0 reportedly provides expanded development and business process management capabilities. The development interfaces have been consolidated into a single tool for configuration across the entire webMethods suite, reducing the need to go live with B2B, SOA and BPM.

Software AG claims that its new platform enhances the companies’ ability to capitalise on both open architecture and existing infrastructure investments, reduces the time and cost to enhance processes and integrate systems, and enables end-user productivity through collaboration between IT and the business.

The new release expands on webMethod’s capabilities by adding: CentraSite ActiveSOA, an integrated business service repository to tie business process management (BPM) to service-oriented architecture (SOA); enhanced BPM; embedded business intelligence to offer process analytics to knowledge workers.

Additionally, webMethods 8.0 introduces webMethods Mediator, built on the webMethods ESB (Enterprise Service Bus). With centralised, run-time management of heterogeneous SOA implementations, Mediator allows to adapt services for reuse.
