Software AG experienced a 43% quarter-to-quarter boost to its business process license revenues in the last three months of 2014, despite the figures falling on a year-on-year basis.
The vendor also reported improved profits in its consulting business and a 7% year-or-year boost to enterprise transaction licenses, which will come as welcome developments as its tries to reorient itself towards cloud delivery of software.
Karl-Heinz Streibich, chief executive of Software AG, said: "Customer-driven development of the product portfolio, a focus on the core business in our consulting unit and optimised sales effectiveness were our strategic priorities in 2014.
"All of the measures we implemented showed initial successes in the second half of fiscal 2014."
Shares in Software AG tumbled in the wake of the results, but later rose after the company assured its shareholders that the new business strategy would yield higher profits.
The company’s fourth quarter earnings before interest and tax rose by a mere 1% to €71.4m (£52.4m), falling slightly below market estimates.
"Increasing profitability remains our goal for 2015," said Arnd Zinnhardt, CFO at Software AG. "And that will serve as the foundation for innovation and expansion — in other words, for Software AG’s successful development."
