Skype has launched Skype Qik, a new mobile app that allows users to send short videos up to l 42 seconds.
The video messages send through Skype Qik disappears in 2 weeks, which is reportedly a take on Snapchat which also offers similar features with photos and videos.
With Skype Qik users can sign up using their mobile number and send short video clips to their contacts using the mobile phone camera.
Users can send message to a group of friends at a time and if the video is not satisfactory then users can delete the message from their end regardless its viewed status.
In response Android and iOS users can send a short five second videos which replicates GIF or emoticon expressing emotions like happy, sad or ‘OMG’.
Android and Windows users can block unwanted users, and the feature is expected to be launched in iOS soon.
Skip Quck messages can be sent to non Skype users, where they will receive a message with instructions to download Skype Qik and an awaiting message.
Skype blog said: "This is just our first release. We’re excited to see how you’ll use Qik and we’ll be working on new features inspired by your feedback."
