South Asian Telecom giant Singtel has launched an all-in-one communications app named Wavee that offers services similar to WhatsApp and Skype.
After using a phone number to register, users will be able to make high quality voice calls using Wavee, a feature already present in Skype and that has been recently introduced to WhatsApp.
Apart from voice calls, users will also be able to make video calls, send messages, photos and videos from camera roll, and send locations.
Singtel VP Johan Buse said: "Wavee is the first of its kind to combine all these features on one app, with a distinctively local touch.
"For instance, it allows users to send files and messages while on a call, which most other similar apps do not."
The new app is presently available in Android and iOS enabled devices, and users of Wavee’s Android app can send their SMS messages directly to Wavee’s inbox.
In an attempt to get an edge on its rivals, the company is offering the free service to its 500 million subscribers without any data fees until 9th July.
The company is also planning to new introduce new features in the second half of 2015.
