A security flaw that is claimed to be exposing personal information from HTC mobiles phones has been investigated by the Taiwanese phone maker.
According to Android Police blog, a hacker can easily access a file containing a user’s GPS location and email addresses once Internet permissions are granted, reported BBC.
It was reported that several models, including EVO 3D, EVO 4G, Thunderbolt and potentially the Sensation range, have been affected by the current security flaw.
BBC cited a company statement saying that they will look into the matter and release an update as soon as they were able to able to determine the claim’s genuineness.
The flaw could lead the hacker to access a user’s list of user accounts, including email addresses; a log of recent GPS locations; phone numbers from recent call logs; and SMS data.
However, experts believe that the risk should be an easy one to solve, and can be sorted by a simple patch.
