A classifieds search engine has found a way to estimate salaries for vacancies advertised online.
To celebrate its second year in business, Adzuna has launched Jobsworth, a programme which predicts the pay of any job based on its description.
The site’s creators, also the people behind Gumtree, Zoopla and Qype, explained that only half the vacancies being advertised in the UK display a salary, meaning jobseekers cannot tell which roles meet their expectations.
The Jobsworth tool analyses more than 500,000 job adverts daily to understand current salary trends based on keywords, categories, companies and locations to produce an estimate usually within 10% of the actual wage, the firm claimed.
Current job vacancies without a salary on Adzuna.co.uk include music label partner manager at Google Play, the salary of which Jobsworth has predicted to be £59,189.
Another vacancy for a product manager at Betfair in London is estimated to pay £45,900 a year.
Andrew Hunter, co-founder of Adzuna, said: "We’re very happy with Adzuna’s progress over the last 2 years and well on course for our mission to change the way in which people find jobs, properties and cars.
"Data is a massive focus for our business and we believe arming people with the right kind of stats (like Jobsworth) for free, will change classifieds search for the better in the UK and beyond."
The website has raised additional funding this year from existing investors to bring its total to £2m.
