Germany-based software firm SAP is planning to acquire cloud-based workforce management technology provider Fieldglass.
The transaction will allow SAP to combine Fieldglass’ cloud-based Vendor Management System (VMS) into its portfolio to address the demand for better workforce management application to support changing business and customer needs.
Combined with the certain features of Ariba and SuccessFactors, the VMS will enable SAP to offer a new platform for businesses that could be used to manage complete workforce and their services.
Following the acquisition, SAP and Fieldglass will jointly offer software, collaboration tools and networks needed to manage permanent and temporary staff.
SAP co-CEOs and executive board members Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe said the acquisition of Fieldglass creates an advantage for the company’s customers as they access, attract and manage talent via the networked economy.
"Combining Fieldglass with SAP is a significant milestone in our strategy to help businesses simplify everything," McDermott and Snabe added.
SAP Products & Innovation Executive Board member Vishal Sikka said the acquisition of Fieldglass is a step forward to further expand the company’s position in a public cloud offering for the enterprise.
"With the power of SAP HANA, SAP Fiori and the Ariba Business Network combined, we can quickly extend the value to our joint customers," Sikka added.
Subjected to the regulatory and other closing conditions, the transaction is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2014.
Fieldglass CEO and co-founder Jai Shekhawat said, "Joining with SAP will allow us to dramatically accelerate our global growth plans and pace of innovation at the unique intersection of the human capital and procurement sectors."
Fieldglass is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois and offers its cloud-based VMS application across over 100 countries in 16 languages.
