Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) and DiVitas Networks, a provider of Mobile Unified Communications (Mobile UC), have rolled out the DiVitas Mobile UC client on Samsung smartphones based on the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform.

The company said that a key feature of the DiVitas Mobile UC Client on the Samsung smartphones is the ability to mobilise and combine Business Voice and IM with social networking (Mobile Presence and Status). The Mobile UC client is suitable for both CPE-based and hosted deployments. This release comes two months after Samsung and DiVitas revealed that they had collaborated to Advance Samsung’s Software Developer Kit for Mobile UC.

Gavin Kim, vice president of content, data services and enterprise mobility at Samsung Mobile, said: “The DiVitas Mobile UC solution is a prime example of how Samsung Mobile is collaborating with other proven innovators to strengthen our efficient and flexible offerings to enterprise businesses and users.

“Businesses and their workforces look to smartphones to stay connected and productive while out of the office. The DiVitas solution, integrated with Samsung Mobile devices, raises the bar even higher by merging the landline desk phone connection with the mobile smartphone user and mobilising UC capabilities to ensure user productivity and collaboration.”

Vivek Khuller, president and CEO of DiVitas Networks, said: “Providing our customers with a best of breed Mobile UC solution requires cooperation from closely related technology providers that are far bigger than DiVitas.”

The DiVitas Mobile UC client has been integrated with Samsung Mobile’s smartphones portfolio operating on both CDMA and GSM wireless networks, including the Samsung Omnia, Samsung Epix and Samsung Saga.
