Samsung Electronics has unveiled a miniature version of its flagship Galaxy S5 named Galaxy S5 mini.

Unlike its predecessor, the S5 mini has a 4.5-inch HD super AMOLED display, and is powered by a Quad Core 1.4 GHz processor and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.

The S5 mini comes with 16 GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 64GB with a micro SD card, and it features 1.5 GB of RAM that could allow for faster web loading and smoother multitasking.

S5 mini measures 31.1×64.8×9.1mm, weighs 120 grams and has a 2,100mAh battery for long lasting performance.

Galaxy S5 Mini has an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 2.1-megapixel front camera, which is an upgrade from the 2.0 megapixel front facing camera offered with the Galaxy S5.

The back cover of the S5 mini has a perforated pattern with a soft touch grip similar to the one in S5, and it will be available in Shimmery White, Charcoal Black, Electric Blue and Copper Gold.

Galaxy S5 mini has all of the features of the S5 like: Fingerprint scanner, heart rate sensor, ultra power saving mode, dust and water resistance and it is compatible with Samsung wearable devices as well.

Samsung Electronics IT & Mobile, head of communication, JK Shin, said: "The Galaxy S5 mini allows consumers to enjoy the iconic design and essential and useful features of the Galaxy S5 through a maximized minimalism approach."

Samsung announced that theS5 mini will be available in Russia starting early July and it will be launched in other markets after that.

The Korean tech giant has not announced the price, but it is speculated that the smartphone will cost somewhere around £399.
