Samsung has introduced the new Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet, which aims to rival Apple’s iPad mini.
Powered by Google’s Android Jelly Bean operating system (OS), the new 8-inch tablet comes with a 1.6GHz Exynos 4 Quad processor and 2GB of RAM.
The new tablet will be offered in 16GB and 32GB and and will feature a 5MP rear camera along with a 1.3MP front facing camera.
Samsung’s S-Pen functionality is aimed at offering an enhanced mobile experience on the go, while other features also include Smart Stay, Direct Call and other features similar to some of the flagship Galaxy devices.
S Pen can also be used to control the physical menu/back buttons on the device through WACOM technology.
Other features include multi-window options and a ‘reading mode’ option to read e books with optimised resolution.

The device can also be converted into a universal remote control which that allows users to manage TVs, set-up boxes, DVD & Blu-ray players.
Shipments of Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 8.0 tablets are expected to start in the second quarter of 2013.
