Samsung has reportedly secured the world’s number one handset seller crown after recording the highest device sales across all the continents during the third quarter of 2013.

Citing a report from Strategic Analytics, Xinhua reported that the South Korean firm sold 120.1 million mobile phones globally during the quarter, and captured a 28.6% market share.

During the quarter, Samsung sold 15.8 million devices in the Middle East and African, surpassing Nokia sales of 14.7 million sales, and capturing a market share of 36.4%.

The South Korean firm reported a 3.4% point drop in its market share in North America following the launch of Apple’s new models, while maintained top position with a market share 9 percentage points more than the iPhone maker.

In Western Europe, Samsung and Nokia had a difference of 27.7% points in market share, while the gap reduced to 13.4% and 14.4% respectively in Latin America and Eastern Europe.
