RoweBots Research has released the DSPnano Operating System Version 3 that offers a tiny embedded Posix environment for 8 and 16 bit microcontroller (MCU) based development, which is also Linux compatible.
The company said that the DSPnano’s open system environment enables users to migrate programs from larger systems to the DSPnano real-time operating system (RTOS) to save time and reduce development costs.
RoweBots said that the new DSPnano version supports lean product development and extends the range of processors that can run Posix from MCUs with external memory to system on chip (SOC) MCUs. It enables users to develop all embedded products on common Posix application programming interfaces (APIs).
In addition, it also offers new enhancements that include – advanced networking; DSP enhancements with ADPCM; FAT12/16/32 file systems; Flash file system support with uSD, SD and MMC; other I/O including graphics, USB and motor control; RTOS viewer tools; and support for MCUs.
