Blackberry maker Research In Motion (RIM) is recalling about 1,000 PlayBook tablet computers because of a glitch in the operating system.
RIM said the glitch might cause problems to users when they load software upon initial set-up on the affected PlayBooks.
In a statement to CrackBerry.com, RIM said the recall is not expected to cause inconvenience to users as most of the affected devices were still in the distribution channel.
"RIM is working to replace the affected devices," it said in a statement.
"In the small number of cases where a customer received a PlayBook that is unable to properly load software upon initial set-up, they can contact RIM for assistance," the company added.
RIM released the PlayBook in April.
RIM is banking on corporate customers for sales of its PlayBook. Software and business services senior vice-president Jim Tobin had said before the launch that the interest of a "significant" portion of Fortune 100 companies in the PlayBook is "very high."
Earlier, RIM boss Jim Balsillie had said that moving into larger devices such as tablets was a big challenge for the company.
The company has also said that it would be launching a 4G Playbook in the second half of the year.
