Porsche Design and Research In Motion (RIM) have introduced new Porsche Design P’9981 smartphone from BlackBerry to deliver engineered luxury and performance.

The Porsche Design P’9981 smartphone from BlackBerry features a forged stainless steel frame, sculpted QWERTY keyboard, touch display, Porsche Design UI and a bespoke Wikitude World Browser.

In addition, the new smartphone also features a 1.2 GHz processor, HD video recording, 24-bit high resolution graphics, 8GB of on-board memory, expandable up to 40GB with a micro SD card and advanced sensors enabling new augmented reality applications.

Porsche Design P’9981 include BlackBerry 7 operating system, Liquid Graphics technology to deliver responsive touch experience and built-in support for NFC (Near Field Communications), which will enable many new and exciting capabilities.

Porsche Design Group CEO Juergen Gessler said since 1972 Porsche Design has presented milestone products and the P’9981 smartphone from BlackBerry will be its next landmark.

"The pure and distinctive design, coupled with authentic materials and an emphasis on the manufacturing process, perfectly match our philosophy and complement the Porsche Design product assortment," said Gessler.

Research In Motion Industrial Design senior vice-president Todd Wood said The collaboration of Porsche Design and RIM stems from a shared belief that form equals function.
