Research In Motion (RIM) said that it is cooperating with Indonesian authorities investigating a BlackBerry promotion held on November 25, which turned violent and triggered a stampede causing injuries to several people.

The promotional event was being held for the Blackberry Bold 9790 or Bellagio and the first 1,000 buyers who fall in line were offered 50% discount.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that RIM’s country director for Indonesia, Andrew Cobham, could be charged for negligence, according to Reuters.

The others who could also face charges are Terry Burki, a security consultant hired by RIM, Edwin, an organiser of the BlackBerry promotional event, and a mall employee Markus.

RIM said in its statement that it sincerely regrets that many loyal customers experienced frustration and upset, and that some individuals suffered injuries.

The company said that it is undertaking its own investigation.
