Rightware, a developer of 3D user interface technology, has launched Basemark GUI to enable objective benchmarking of user interface performance of smartphones, pads, and other embedded devices.

According to Rightware, the new Basemark GUI provides scientifically studied test cases to give its users a confidence in their hardware performance analysis.

Basemark GUI also enables operators, device manufacturers and semiconductor companies to measure a system performance of user interfaces in all stages of the product development.

The Basemark GUI product lends itself to hardware manufacturers as a tool to analyse platform capability of the user interface applications that use visually compelling 3D graphics. Basemark GUI generates OpenGL ES 1.1 and 2.0 workloads tax the graphics system, the company said.

Rightware CEO Tero Sarkkinen said Basemark GUI is the tool for device manufacturers to ensure that they choose the right chips and build their device only with the top-notch user interface software.

"We’re proud to bring Basemark GUI in to embedded industry to enable tackling challenges and for the device manufacturers to introduce better performing 3D user interfaces in their devices," said Sarkkinen.
