By CBR Staff Writer

Red Hat has released the updated version of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 with added features.

The added features include Scale-out data access through Parallel NFS (pNFS), enhanced identity management, improved virtual guest experience on VMware and Hyper-V, Updated Management Capabilities and Improved Productivity Support.

The parallel Network File System (pNFS) in the operating system (OS) solves the NFS sprawl problems that occur due to growth of data and the increased burden of managing file system complexity.

Enhanced identity and host-based access management offers interoperability in heterogeneous environments for identities including Linux- based and Microsoft Active Directory managed.

The Microsoft Hyper-V Linux drivers improve the performance of the OS when running as a guest on Microsoft Hyper-V, while the OS offers installation support for the VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V para-virtualised drivers.

The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 offers increase in control groups (cgroups) that enable multi-threaded applications to migrate between them and includes updated performance monitoring tools that support new counters from Intel.

Features of the OS include increased interoperability with Microsoft Exchange, calendar support in Evolution, alarm notifications and the ability to schedule meetings, while supporting Wacom tablets.
