Raritan, a provider of power and energy management software, has introduced the new version of its Power IQ data centre energy management software.
Raritan claims that its new version enables companies track and analyse energy usage down to the individual IT device level, and implements energy-saving actions in the enterprise from a central power console.
According to the company, the new version serves as the central console for energy management and rack PDU (power distribution unit) management in data centres. In addition to gathering information from IT equipment plugged into its Dominion PX PDUs, the new version now also collects energy data from and provides remote power control of the Ethernet-enabled rack PDUs.
Other energy-management activities enabled by the new version include: increasing a server room’s temperature gradually, creating energy cost bill-back reports to drive behaviour, forecasting energy savings before decommissioning servers, and scheduling power usage at optimal times.
Reportedly, enterprise-wide data collection enables the new version’s analytics to calculate and chart active power, energy consumption, cost and carbon footprint for servers and other IT devices. Power information is presented in user-configurable graphs and reports accessible through the new version’s web-based dashboard.
