Raritan has introduced its KVM-over-IP switch that the company says enables the use of SmartPhones and tablets to manage remote servers.

IT administrators can securely obtain BIOS-level access to servers being handled by Raritan’s Dominion KX II KVM release 2.4 and CommandCenter-Secure Gateway release 5.2.

Dominion KX II features a browser-based mobile client, which enables automatic remote access to clients as no KVM client or application is required to be downloaded on devices.

The company said this enables IT administrators to have immediate secure access to servers for performing diagnostics and other server management tasks through iPads and iPhones.

The new firmware for Dominion KX II also provides end-to-end digital audio over IP, which enables playback and record functions from remote audio applications, as well as manage these applications, anytime/anywhere.

The new offering is suited for IT administrators who monitor and maintain audio applications, such as VoIP (Skype), Software PBX, and Centralised Call Centers as well as for customers in the broadcast/media industry.

The KX II provides end-to-end digital audio, from the remote server to the user’s desktop and will also support bidirectional digital audio similar to the Dominion KX II’s Universal Virtual Media feature which enables remote installation of software, file transfers, data backup and diagnostics on servers, including those running Linux and Mac OS.

With Release 2.4, clients will have localised user interfaces that support the Chinese and Japanese languages, and helps manage more servers, locations, technology platforms, applications with fewer resources.

The application also features AutoScan for flexible viewing of multiple servers, where users can select the server ports to be scanned and scanning interval, ranging from one port to 64 ports.

The company said the KX II KVM switch also delivers a remote HD video resolution of 1920 x1080 pixels, has an Unique Absolute Mouse Synchronization feature, a FIPS 140-2 validated encryption module and offers smart card-authentication security.
