Quest to release Toad for Oracle 10

Open beta for de-facto standard Oracle tool

By CBR Staff Writer

Quest Software, an enterprise systems management vendor, has released details about the Toad for Oracle version 10, the standard tool for Oracle development and administration. Toad 10 will reportedly offer new functionality enhancements, providing improved productivity, better database manageability and access to educational resources.

According to the company, the upcoming release incorporates new development, administration, platform and educational enhancements. The company said that the offering has enhanced development best practices functionality through a new schema ER diagram reporting window and editing enhancements with a built-in SQL performance tuning methodology.

The company said that its administration enhancement allows manageability and automation and can perform multiple tasks between multiple instances and a single console to manage server, database and schema compare and synchronisation. The company’s platform enhancement offers a new graphical interface utilising new data grids and Unicode support. Its education enhancement offers direct access to Toad community resources in Toad World.

The new offering, which is expected to be released in October, is now available for testing.

Larry Humphries, VP and GM of database management at Quest Software, said: “This will be one of Quest’s biggest and most exciting releases of Toad for Oracle in ten years. The new features and enhanced functionality built into version 10 reflect how much Toad continues to evolve, as well as Quest’s ongoing effort to bring added value and innovation to the most popular Oracle tool on the market.”
