Quest Software has released the newest version of SharePlex for Oracle, the real-time database replication product that reportedly supports high availability, reporting, data movement and application integration on Oracle databases. Additional features introduced in the new version include wildcard support, batch processing and configuration management enhancements to SharePlex’s monitoring and management dashboard, and SharePlex Manager.

According to the company, IT staffs charged with maintaining continuous access to business-critical data are presented with a significant challenge in current environments. The new version of SharePlex is expected to simplify the tasks associated with managing large, complex Oracle replication topologies and facilitates reporting, warehousing, workload isolation, scalability and migrations or upgrades.

Larry Humphries, vice president and general manager of database management of Quest Software, said: “With hundreds of enterprise customers globally, Quest wanted to bring new functionalities to SharePlex that will help IT staffs get more from their Oracle environments while increasing database productivity and efficiency. New functionalities for task automation, simplified manageability and improved performance contribute to SharePlex’s continued position as the leading solution for data replication.”

SharePlex reportedly offers Oracle wildcard support, allowing users to define semantic rules for specifying the objects and operations that should be replicated in large databases. New batch processing functionality is said to provide performance improvements when replicating particularly long transactions. In addition, the company said that, SharePlex users can manage their SharePlex installations through a graphical user interface with one central console via SharePlex Manager, which is deployed with the product.
