Quest Software has introduced Quest vWorkspace 7.2, a new version of its desktop virtualisation offering that the company says features a new installer and Quick Start Wizard, PowerShell support, and a highly extensible reporting capability.
vWorkspace 7.2 provides organisations with enterprise-class features to ensure deep adoption and integration with other management systems, as well as easier management and tracking of administrator and user activity.
vWorkspace 7.2 features wizard-driven setup that reduces time-to-value for customers, and reporting and logging that include historical tracking of administrative actions.
The new platform also provides comprehensive information across the vWorkspace infrastructure, reporting on desktop state and environment configuration to help administrators make informed decisions.
This newest version introduces the first set of PowerShell cmdlets for vWorkspace, publicly available from the vWorkspace Community, with which customers and service providers will have the ability to script and automate key areas within vWorkspace, and drive self-service user management, the company said.
Quest Software Desktop Virtualisation Group vice president and general manager Simon Pearce said that with vWorkspace 7.2, they had reduced the number of actions required to deliver a working proof of concept or pilot installation by over 80%.
"Setup of the core elements of vWorkspace can be done in less than 10 minutes, and together with our PowerShell interface and expanded management capabilities, vWorkspace 7.2 demonstrates that we are committed to simplifying desktop virtualisation for organisations of all sizes," Pearce said.
