Quest Software has acquired Völcker Informatik to extend its Quest One Identity Solution product portfolio, adding stronger user and resource provisioning, self-service and workflow capabilities to an already robust set of tools and technology that simplify identity and access management (IAM).

The company said that with Völcker’s ActiveEntry technology, Quest One simplifies IAM by consolidating directories, unifying identities around an organisation’s existing investments, and automating administrative tasks, thereby increasing security and ensuring compliance.

Quest said that ActiveEntry technology enables Quest to deliver a business-centric identity management offerings, making management of the identity lifecycle less complex and more affordable than traditional offerings, while maintaining the levels of compliance and security organisations demand.

Doug Garn, CEO and president of Quest Software, said: "For a variety of reasons, many organisations have been unable to implement identity and access management through a traditional framework solution. The launch of Quest One in 2008 gave organisations a simplified approach to addressing key IAM challenges based on the Microsoft technology stack.

"The Völcker acquisition adds an extra dimension to the Quest One solution by providing the power, security and efficiency that organisations demand across their entire enterprise. This addresses the common barriers of cost, time and complexity typically associated with IAM."
