Qualcomm sells AR firm Vuforia to PTC

News: Company wants to merge the digital and physical worlds.

By Joao Lima

PTC has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Vuforia from Qualcomm Connected Experiences, a subsidiary of Qualcomm, for $65 million.

The company said Vuforia owns the industry’s most advanced and widely adopted augmented reality (AR)technology platform.

The mobile vision platform enables applications to see and connect the physical world with digital experiences that demand attention, drive engagement, and deliver value.

PTC also said that when coupled with its IoT and analytics platforms, Vuforia will offer new ways to design, monitor and control products.
