Enterprise software provider Progress Software has launched a new version of Sonic Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), which the company says will combines open standards with feature-rich tooling native to the Progress Sonic products.
The Sonic ESB 8.0 supports RESTful (Representation State Transfer) architectural approach to integration. RESTful Web Services simplify integration with portals, mash-ups, mobile devices and any web-based application, the company said.
Progress Software said that the new version focuses on open, standards-based programming models including enhanced performance and simplified development for traditional web Services and the promotion of Plain Old Java Objects (POJOs) as the default programming model.
In addition, Sonic ESB 8.0 also leverages open technologies to support lightweight integration patterns with broker-less deployments, enabling customers to avoid vendor lock-in and improve developer productivity. The Continuous Availability Architecture within the ESB platform is enhanced and delivers zero-downtime upgrades and patches to highly-distributed, environments from a centralized location, the company said.
