Progress Software has unveiled a new version of OpenEdge SaaS platform, which it claims to simplify the development and deployment of business applications to various users and devices. The new version enhancements focus on the user interface flexibility.

The company said that the new productivity enhancements centre on the platform’s integrated development environment OpenEdge Architect. The latest version reduces the time required to develop applications that can simultaneously deploy through multiple UIs, vital for those applications that need to be reached via both traditional web browsers and through mobile devices.

In addition, the new version expands the richness and reach for developing SaaS applications, with an understanding of who the user is and how they need to interact with the system.

Colleen Smith, managing director of software as a service at Progress Software, said: “Today’s business end-users expect to be able to access their mission critical applications and data anytime, anywhere. UI design and user personalisation are critical to cloud-based application deployment, and with OpenEdge we have simplified it. Ultimately, this increases developer productivity, while supporting the customer’s usability requirements.”
