Postbank is reportedly a long-time IBM mainframe client. After having consolidated IBM z900 mainframes onto bigger z990s in the past, now the current generation of IBM System z10 will be integrated into its IT infrastructure for even further consolidation and energy efficiency. The IBM mainframes will be part of a consolidation initiative within Postbank, underlining its core banking strategy and extending their technological competitive advantage, said IBM.
Manfred Loew, managing director responsible for IT operations at Postbank Systems, said: For us, the new IBM System z10 mainframe represents an efficient platform for our core-banking. The new mainframes are available and deliver performance. With their energy efficiency as well, they will contribute greatly to the green IT orientation of Postbank IT.
Andreas Wrede, client executive for Postbank Group at IBM, said: Using our mainframe technology, Postbank is preparing itself to take its enterprise data center to the next level. Today, data centers have to be able to adapt more flexibly to fast changing market and business requirements and more and more clients are looking to IBM and our z10 mainframe.
