Unified Communications (UC) company Polycom and smartphones designer HTC have signed an agreement to collaborate and enable Polycom RealPresence Mobile on select HTC smartphones and tablets.

The agreement enables the select HTC devices to be certified Polycom-ready and optimised for RealPresence Mobile, which is powered by the Polycom RealPresence Platform.

RealPresence Mobile is a secure video software application for mobile devices that extends the reach of video collaboration beyond the conference room and allows users on the go with a mobile device to connect with other standards-based video systems in HD quality.

The collaboration of the two companies will enable Polycom to make video collaboration universal by delivering standards-based software to anyone, across any environment, the company said.

HTC Global Enterprise and Services executive director David Jaeger said video collaboration is a critical application within mobile platforms.
