Ping Identity has integrated its PingConnect on-demand Single Sign-On (SSO) service with Google Apps to offer a universal Software as a Service (SaaS) login that ties together different SaaS environments by managing user access and authentication in the cloud.

Ping Identity said that users can now login to their Google Apps domain and directly access other SaaS applications, such as Salesforce CRM, by clicking a link.

Ping Identity claims that PingConnect extends the ‘reach’ of Google Apps login to Salesforce, WebEx, Concur, SuccessFactors and few other SaaS applications. This gives companies using Google Apps the option to manage their SaaS user accounts through the Google Apps domain.

In additon, the combined offering is based on the OpenID open authentication protocol with Google Apps acting as an OpenID provider and PingConnect acting as an OpenID relying party. Once a user’s identity has reached PingConnect, it can then transfer to any SaaS providers who integrate with PingConnect through Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML).

Eric Sachs, Product Manager of Security Team at Google Apps, said: “With this launch PingConnect is providing an easy way to universally access multiple SaaS applications without requiring costly and complicated new IT tools and support.”
