Zero client desktop virtualisation firm Pano Logic has launched a Chrome browser-based desktop computing platform Pano System for Cloud which does not require any local operating system or CPU.
Pano System for Cloud is suitable for businesses, schools, governments and other organisations who seek an alternative to PC-based or thin client models that rely on costly end user software and hardware.
The cost-effective computing platform centralises all computing activities in the cloud and offers end users with familiar browser interface and use software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications or web-based applications to do their work.
Pano Logic’s new release utilises a new low cost Pano Zero Client, the G2M. The new platform also strips away costly infrastructure layers including software licensing, expensive SAN or NAS hardware and ongoing operational expenses.
The company’s endpoint device, the Pano Zero Client is a solid-state device that has no processor, no storage, no memory and no operating system.

Pano System for Cloud eliminates two security liabilities: one the endpoint device operating system that often the target of malicious code and the other is endpoint device storage, where nefarious applications can hide or proprietary information may be kept and lost if the device were stolen.
The new desktop computing platform is an extension of the core technology in Pano System for VDI. Pano’s VDI platform is a hardware-and-software virtual desktop solution that independently interoperates with all three hypervisors (vSphere, XenServer, Hyper-V) and their management systems (VMware View, XenDesktop, Microsoft SCVMM).
