Business-to-business offerings provider Panasonic System Networks Company of America in association with communication applications company Poltys has introduced the Direct Care Connect Application for the healthcare market.

Panasonic said the Direct Care Connect is designed for assisted and independent living facilities, skilled nursing facilities and hospices which provides nurses, doctors and caregivers with faster response to patients’ needs through a telecommunications system.

Poltys Direct Care Connect and Nurse Call applications are integrated with the hub of Panasonic’s KX-TDE and NCP series of IP-enabled business telephone systems. These systems provide real-time alarms and notifications to caregivers as soon as patients require assistance, said Panasonic.

Through the nurse call system and the Panasonic telephone system patients can trigger an alert and after triggering the alert a notification is sent to a caregiver’s handset displaying the patient’s name or ID, information such as a room number, and even a preset priority level.

Caregivers have three options to respond after alerts are received: acknowledge they received the notification; notify next in line and talk directly to the patient in the room.

Panasonic System Networks Company of America Business Communication Solutions marketing manager Bill Savino said the healthcare market is a consistently growing segment in the U.S. economy and this application, combined with Panasonic’s leading DECT solution, offers true value for an expanding industry.

"Panasonic is pleased to be able to provide valuable solutions which significantly improve productivity in healthcare facilities across the nation, resulting in better patient care," said Savino.
