Palm releases new version of webOS

Re-enables Pre to sync with iTunes

Palm has released an update to its webOS that allows Pre to sync with the iTunes again. Last week, Apple has released an update to its iTunes that has closed the Palm Pre’s from syncing with it.

The new version webOS 1.1, brings several additions to support Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), including remote wipe, PIN/password requirements, inactivity timeout, and improved certificate handling, according to Palm’s official blog.

The new webOS 1.1 includes support for emoticons in the messaging app, and the ability to set “person reminders” in the contacts application. It also re-enables Palm media sync.

John Traynor, vice president of business products at Palm wrote on its official blog: That’s right — you once again can have seamless access to your music, photos and videos from the current version of iTunes (8.2.1).”

Palm said that all these updates will be delivered automatically to Pre wirelessly. It said that over-the-air updates let users to automatically get new webOS features and security updates.
