Oracle unveils enterprise stack systems strategy

Assembles layered systems management suite

By CBR Staff Writer

Oracle Corp has branded its major application management release of the year as a move that demonstrates the company has the best tools to manage what has become a broad Oracle footprint in the enterprise, with systems to control every layer of the application stack.

In a conference call today Oracle VP Richard Sarwal said the company has built-in manageability in every tier and integrated manageability across the entire stack.

“We don’t bolt on manageability, but build it into the applications and into the core architecture” he said, announcing controls that straddle middleware and database layers and will manage all operating systems and virtualisation processes.

In an announcement made on Tuesday the company unveiled a suite that Sarwal said would allow everything to be monitored and managed from one place. The suite would also handle everything from test and development throughout the application lifecycle, to service level management.

New accelerators for Oracle applications had been added to the Real User Experience Insight (RUEI) programs the company released a year ago, with release 5 of its systems management suite also adding monitoring and diagnostics capabilities for Siebel business workflows, new management capabilities for the Beehive collaboration and communication application, and an update for its billing and revenue management systems.

At the middleware layer, Sarwal highlighted the Composite Application Monitor and Modeler for model-driven coverage of Oracle SOA.
