Oracle preps revamped apps controller

Systems management suite in major rework

By CBR Staff Writer

Oracle Corp is ready to update its approaches to application management with an upgrade of its Enterprise Manager systems management suite, and the promise of real-time configuration updates and reconciliation processes.

In an announcement being made on Tuesday the company will unveil new monitoring accelerators for Oracle applications, features that allow real-time SQL monitoring, some new security management procedures and new change management automation.

Some of the enhancements due tomorrow are expected to draw on IT service dependency mapping systems Oracle acquired with the recent buyout of application configuration management technology supplier mValent.

Oracle said the release 5 of Enterprise Manager 10g will let IT shops get a better handle on Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Service Bus processes, and manage both physical and virtual environments from a single console.

The next edition of its systems management suite will add Siebel 8.1.1 support, new management capabilities for the Beehive collaboration and communication application, an update for its billing and revenue management systems, some grid automation capabilities and more Oracle Database advisors.
