Opsera has released OpsMailmanager version 1.5, its new offering that automates the filing of email messages and attachments into Alfresco’s Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software.

Together, OpsMailmanager and Alfresco ECM are expected to enable organisations to implement an integrated email and document information management strategy by using an open source software subscription model. The company said that by storing emails alongside other documents, it is possible to share, search and secure the entire organisation’s information in one place.

John Powell, CEO of Alfresco Software, said: “Customers will welcome the new OpsMailmanager functionality as a way of extending their open source ECM solution and addressing the growing challenge of email management. Partner developments such as Opsera’s email integration further extend the value of the Alfresco open source eco-system.”

In addition, the new offering uses the IMAP standard to work with almost all email clients including MS Outlook, Lotus Notes, Thunderbird and Novell Groupwise. It also has options for automatic email filing and message handling features for Lotus Notes users.

The company earlier released OpsMailmanager version 1.1 in May 2009.
