Silk Road, the secret online marketplace for drug dealers, has reappeared in a newer version.

Reports from AllThingsVice reveal that the revived anonymous site, which looks identical to the former site, has already started selling an extensive range of drugs online.

The new version has also listed several adverts for marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and other prohibited drugs from independent traders for purchase using Bitcoin.

The former version of the online drug bazaar was shut down by the FBI in October and the organisation arrested its alleged mastermind, Ross Ulbricht, on charges of drug trafficking, hacking and money laundering.

Also called the ‘eBay of drugs’, the site used the Tor computer network to keep the details of transactions under wraps, making it almost impossible to trace computers used to host or access the website.

The site was also accused of selling hacker tools such as software to steal login credentials or logging keystrokes on users’ machines.

According to a survey from Global Drug Survey, about 22% of consumers reportedly purchased drugs online, with one third of them familiar with the Silk Road marketplace.
