NTT Communications (NTT Com) said that it will launch a new service for total security management of PCs and other IT assets on an integrated, low-cost basis on April 1, 2010.
The new service, known as Biz Security PC Management, will be the company’s new offering under cloud-based BizCITY concept of providing secure access to enterprise services from anyplace at anytime.
According to NTT Com, the new cloud-based service will integrate security and asset management features for the security of each device including patch management, restrictions on data export or adding new applications, and exhaustive measures for preventing information leaks or virus infections.
In addition, the service also generates lists of hardware requiring specific patches and enables one-time patching of devices and creates operation logs. Unregistered PCs can be detected and reported as long as they are connected to the internal network.
The company said that the new service helps to prevent software license violations and overpayment of licensing fees. In addition, the optional services of Biz Security PC Management include the management of PC power settings to lower a company’s environmental footprint, and the automated distribution of files such as applications and user-specified files.
The new service comes in two plans, Secure Value Plan and Basic Plan. The company plans to make the service compatible with smartphones in the future.
