Novell has introduced a comprehensive log management product that reportedly expands the functionality offered in the company’s security information and event management products. The company claimed that its Sentinel Log Manager simplifies fulfillment of audit requirements and improves security by streamlining the management of raw event data used for risk investigations and compliance reporting.
The new offering is said to simplify regulatory challenges by storing, analysing and reporting on security event data. Customers can use search and reporting capabilities to produce the view they need for security or compliance audits.
The company said that, in order to reduce the storage costs endemic with some log management products, the new offering provides filtering which allows customers to choose how long to store particular types of data and offers 10x data compression. All of this is expected to provide customers a comprehensive approach to security and regulatory compliance.
Jim Ebzery, senior vice president and general manager of identity and security at Novell, said: “Our customers need solutions that deliver efficiency to their ongoing security and risk management programmes. Adding Sentinel Log Manager to our award-winning line of SIEM products helps customers protect their IT infrastructure, customer and corporate data, while adhering to compliance regulations defined by government and industry.”
Additionally, the new log management capability reportedly integrates with the company’s portfolio of compliance management products. The company noted that its products enable real-time monitoring and remediation of network events by tying identities, systems and data together to deliver a real-time, centralised view of business operations so that organisations can enforce security and access-related policies, to demonstrate compliance.
