Nokia, AIS to offer push-email service for AIS subscribers

Offers two new data packages

By CBR Staff Writer

Nokia and Advanced Info Service (AIS) have entered into a collaborated to offer the Nokia Messaging push-email service for AIS subscribers.

The companies claim that the deal makes AIS the first operator in Thailand to offer Nokia Messaging, which supports consumer email services such as Ovi Mail, Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail.

Somchai Lertsutthiwong, executive vice president of marketing at AIS, said: Services like Nokia Messaging contribute to easier mobile living for our customers, and we’re happy to be the first to deliver this service in Thailand. We believe our customers will find this service appealing, both in terms of user-friendliness and price.

Nokia Messaging is a push email service which allows the user to mobilise up to ten personal email accounts on one device. Once activated, the user can read, send, forward, reply to emails, download, read and attach files directly on their mobile phone

Thailand-based wireless communication service provider AIS has also introduced two new data packages: “Nokia Messaging Bt 199” which allows AIS consumers to use Nokia Messaging up to 5MB per month for THB199 per month; and the other is “Nokia Messaging Bt 399 Unlimited” which offers unlimited use of Nokia Messaging.

Shumit Kapoor, general manager of Nokia (Thailand), said: Nokia wants to make mobile email available for as many people as possible, and the agreement with AIS is an important milestone. With Nokia Messaging, we meet people’s need for access to email whenever they want and wherever they want it.
