Nokia is reportedly planning to launch a new Android powered smartphone, dubbed ‘Normandy’, at the upcoming Mobile World Congress to be held next month.
The new smartphone is anticipated to be powered by a customised version of Android 4.4.1 KitKat, with no access to Google’s app store and related services.
Other features of the new smartphone include a 4-in display with resolution of 854×480, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 5MP rear camera.
Claimed to be a budget handset, the new device would be positioned against the likes of Asha models and basic Lumia smartphones.
Nokia is also working on another variant of the smartphone, dubbed ‘RM-980’.
The latest smartphone development comes in the wake of Nokia being acquired by Microsoft for £4.6bn, with the deal anticipated to be completed in Q1.
