Nokia has signed an agreement to acquire Motally, a privately-held US-based company. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close during Q3 2010.

Motally’s mobile analytics service offers in-application tracking and reporting, and is designed to enable developers and publishers to optimise the development of their mobile applications through enhanced understanding of how users engage.

Nokia said that Motally’s service offering is planned to be implemented for Qt, Symbian, Meego and Java developers, and it also plans to continue serving Motally’s existing customer base.

Nokia media vice president Marco Argenti said that the acquisition of Motally underpins the company’s drive to deliver in-application and mobile web browsing analytics to Ovi’s global eco-system of developers and publishers, enabling partners to connect with their customers and optimise and monetise their offering.
