Nokia launches low-priced Lumia 625 for emerging markets

Sales to begin during Q3

By CBR Staff Writer

Nokia has launched the new Lumia 625 4G smartphone to compete with rivals including Samsung and Apple.

Boasting a 4.7-inch super-sensitive LCD screen and powered by a Windows Phone 8 operation system, the device comes with a 1.2GHz Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.

It also features a 5MP rear-facing camera and 8GB of internal storage, allowing up to 64GB extra storage space.

Other features include free maps, turn-by-turn navigation, public transport guidance, Xbox Live, Microsoft Office, and 7GB of online SkyDrive storage and access to 165,000 apps.

Its Nokia Smart Camera application can eliminate unwanted objects from pictures, while Nokia Cinemagraph converts photos into living memories with additional movement.

Nokia said it expects to sell the device in China, Europe, Asia Pacific, India, Middle East, Africa and Latin America in the third quarter of 2013.

The Finnish mobile maker reported a 5.6% drop in its shares after the company revealed a sharp decline in Q2 sales.
