Nimsoft has introduced a new online diagnostic tool that enables clients to assess their readiness for monitoring cloud environments.
The new IT Monitoring Cloud Readiness Self Assessment tool allows IT teams to estimate their current cloud monitoring capabilities and challenges, so that they can make decisions about how to manage their planned cloud environments.
The company said that based on an online survey it provides a customised report to users that quantifies their technical readiness, organisational preparedness and IT/business alignment.
Using this report, the tool provides guidance about how an organisation can safeguard the success of its cloud initiatives with effective monitoring.
The company has also said added monitoring support to Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), to its Monitoring Solution (NMS).
Cisco UCS is designed for scalable and virtualised data centres and cloud environments.
NMS adapts to the flexibility in UCS, detecting changes in physical elements such as fans, power supplies, and servers, and then applying monitoring through the use of service profiles that facilitate the configuration and deployment of the offering.
In additon, NMS also monitors UCS components within a single, common framework with other cloud and traditional data centre resources, including network, storage, virtualisation, and Web applications.
Nimsoft CEO Gary Read said cloud computing offers organisations business value but it also requires IT to adopt a whole new approach to management and operations.
"Nimsoft is helping customers make this transition by providing IT teams with a practical way to quickly gauge how well-equipped they are to monitor the cloud and to determine where they need to address potential technology and process deficits," Read said.
