Nexternal Solutions, a provider of eCommerce shopping cart software, has released a new feature which provides integration with two social networking sites Facebook and Twitter.

The company said that the new update gives online merchants the ability to allow their customers to post recent purchases on Facebook and Twitter during the checkout process.

According to Nexternal, once a customer has purchased a product from the merchant’s online store they will have the option on the order confirmation screen and from their order confirmation email to share that purchase both on Facebook and Twitter. It allows buyer’s to share what they have bought with others, providing direct link back to the merchant’s online store.

In the case of a Facebook post, the merchant’s company logo or image of their choice will also be included on the customer’s profile, the company said.

Craig Ross, VP of sales at Nexternal, said: “Everyday, the percentage of time people spend on social networking sites increases. Although many online merchants have setup Fan Pages and Twitter accounts, not many have implemented tools that will drive new customers to their sites. This feature really encourages that. A third party endorsement from a friend is really powerful.”
