California based application monitoring service provider New Relic has acquired San Francisco-based live-state infrastructure monitoring service firm Opsmatic.
New Relic gives insight on the performance of applications on their servers, and Opsmatic provides real-time data for fast-moving DevOps teams on detailed configuration and changes that affect their infrastructure. Opsmatic’s software platform alerts users, enabling them to troubleshoot the problems and reduce downtime.
Organisations get information regarding any "drift" in configuration across host groups.
The acquisition is expected to help New Relic enter the fast-growing infrastructure monitoring market.
New Relic CEO Lew Cirne said: "With this acquisition, New Relic gains Opsmatic’s powerful technology that monitors configuration changes at the infrastructure level.
"This is important, because we believe today’s successful software teams need real-time visibility into every component of their apps — from the infrastructure all the way up to the user experience."
While announcing the acquisition, Opsmatic has also made available a private, invitation-only beta programme.
Opsmatic former CEO and current New Relic product vice-president Jim Stoneham said: "Opsmatic was born out of our own frustration with the lack of tooling to support modern, fast-moving Ops teams, and our infrastructure monitoring service has come a long way since we started the company in early 2013.
"We couldn’t imagine a better place than New Relic to continue our quest to better empower Operations teams."
New Relic also announced the results of the second quarter of its fiscal year 2016, where it posted revenue of $42.9m, up 69% from the same period last year, but incurred a loss of $15m.
