A new product has been launched that lets Mac users share files and folders globally without emailing them or requiring other users to sign up to the same software as them.

App developer ZipZapMac released ShareMate this week, which is designed to send data to friends and colleagues around the world with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Using the app, Mac owners can right-click on a file or folder, click ‘Share with ShareMate’ in the dropdown and send a link to the data via text, email, IM, or any other method.

The recipient can then click the link to access the file.

The software can be linked to Dropbox accounts and also includes a file manager that aims to enable users to manage shared files more easily.

The developer claims it works with any digital file.

Stanislav Kuptsov, ZipZapMac’s MD, said: "Originally we wrote this app for our own internal use. It saved us so much time and hassle that we realized that others could benefit from it also."
