New iPhone app to assist fashionistas to refresh wardrobes, exchange garments

App allows shoppers to capture photos of any dress, fabric or pattern and offer them a similar one to rent.

By CBR Staff Writer

Rent the Runway, a web-based designer apparel and accessories hiring service, has launched a new iPhone app to help fashion-conscious women to find designer clothing to rent.

The app allows shoppers to capture photos of any dress, fabric or pattern they see in stores and browse for similar ones to rent.

It also provides shortlists which enable users to select dresses for special occassions, or to curate their own collection of favourite garments.

Users can also receive a second opinion by sharing their favourites with friends via text or email directly from the app, even going so far as to swap clothes with other users.

Another iPhone app, dubbed 99dresses, allows women to revive their wardrobe by swapping dresses, shoes and handbags with other individuals.
